• Just tell me briefly what Remote Webcam does ?

  Remote Webcam takes pictures from the webcam on your laptop/desktop and pushes them to Remote-Webcam servers. From there it can be picked up by any browser enabled mobile device. People with computers usually have mobile phones too. It was pathetic that they cannot monitor using their mobile. This is especially useful for small businesses who spend money in buying expensive monitoring solutions. Webcams are pretty cheap and easy to install. Setting up remote-webcam monitor is easy once the webcam is working on your system.

• I am unable to get images when I try the View from my web-page.

  Following are the steps to verify if your installation is fine:

  1. Check if java is installed properly. You can goto java check page from Sun Microsystems which does it automatically for you.
  2. Check if the webcam can be read by clicking here. You should see "Native Libraries Found" in the text box when you open the test page.
  3. After test 1 and 2 are passed and you still do not see images on Ispy-monitor, then it is possible that your webcam is controlled by some other program which is not letting the control come to Ispy. Go thru the list of running programs and figure out if that is the case, you may have to talk to some computer expert for this.
  4. If there is a corporate firewall, then even after capturing images the Ispy-monitor will not be able to send this to Remote-webcam servers and you will not get to see these images remotely.

• I am not getting images on my mobile.

  Make sure that you are able to see the uploaded images via a web browser. If still you do not see the images on your mobile probably you are not connected to internet or your service provider is somehow blocking the images.

• How long can I extend my webcam ?

  The maximum length of an USB cable is five meters and for anything beyond that you need to have an active-repeater cable. Check out your local cable shops for the length of cable you need and ensure that your webcam works in that range. For more information about USB limitations.

• How far away from a PC can I put a USB device ?

  With the maximum of 5 hubs connected with 5m cables and a 5m cable going to your full speed device, this will give you 30m of cable . With a low speed device, you will be able to get a range up to 27m, depending on how long the device's cable is. With a straightforward cable route, you will probably be able to reach out 25m or so from the PC.

• How long can I extend my webcam ?
